Gandhinagar: Two workers have died and a subsequent fire broke out at a pharmaceutical factory in Bharuch district, Gujarat, after a boiler explosion and subsequent fire. Twenty workers were reportedly injured in the accident.

An official said the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. at the factory located in the Saykha GIDC area. Bharuch District Collector Gaurang Makwana said, "A powerful boiler explosion inside the factory caused a massive fire." He added that the fire was later brought under control.

Factory building collapses after the blast
He said, "The explosion was so powerful that the entire factory building collapsed. Most workers managed to escape, but two were trapped and died. Their bodies were recovered from the debris after the fire was extinguished. Around 20 workers sustained minor injuries in the incident."

Investigation underway at the scene following the accident
District Collector Gaurang Makwana stated that teams from the fire department, police, and forensic experts are conducting a thorough investigation at the scene, as some workers have claimed that a person is missing after the explosion and is possibly trapped inside the building.

Factory License and Permit Investigation Underway
According to District Collector Gaurang Makwana, officials from the Director of Industrial Safety and Health (DISH) have also reached the scene to investigate the incident. He stated that they are investigating whether the factory had all the necessary licenses and permissions.
