New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday launched another scathing attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the central government.
He said that the RSS is the root cause of law and order problems in the country, and therefore, the organization should be banned.
He made this statement on the day the country was observing the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and the 41st death anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Kharge says, “Ban the RSS; it’s the root of most problems in the country.”
Kharge said that the ideology of the RSS and the BJP is working to spread hatred and intolerance in the country. He stated that it is his “personal opinion” that the RSS should be banned because it repeatedly disrupts the law and order situation.
He said that Sardar Patel had also questioned the activities of the RSS in 1948, and the organization was banned that same year after the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.
Attacks citing Patel’s letter
Kharge referred to a letter written by Patel to Syama Prasad Mukherjee, in which Patel had expressed concern over the “suspicious activities” of the RSS.
He said that Patel had banned the RSS at that time to protect the secular ethos and unity of the country. Kharge said, “Today, the same people are using Sardar Patel’s legacy for their political agenda, while Patel himself was an opponent of the RSS.”
Accuses the Modi government of distorting history
The Congress president alleged that the Modi government is distorting history to suit its own narrative. He said that passages related to Gandhi, Godse, the RSS, and the 2002 riots have been removed from NCERT textbooks.
Kharge said that presenting history as a “white lie” is tantamount to misleading the new generation of the country. 🇮🇳 Modi Retaliates, Says, “The Country Suffered Because of Nehru’s Mistake”
