The festival of Dhanteras, also known as Dhanwantri Triodasi, is being celebrated across the country, especially in North and West India, with fervour and gaiety.

Dhanteras is considered to be an auspicious day for buying gold, silver and other valuables including utensils.

Dynamite News visited Karol Bagh market and spoke to various people and shopkeepers.

Meena Sharma, wife of the owner of famous utensils shop Pandit ji ki dukan said, “Keeping in view rush of customers on Dhanteras, we open our shop at 6 in the morning and business goes on till pass midnight. Like every year, this time too sales are extremely good.”

Jewelers are also having a big time today.

Dynamite News spoke to Sandeep, a sales person, at a large gold and diamond showroom ‘Malabar’ at Pusa Road.

Sandeep said most of the customers are buying gold ornaments. In comparison to other days, sales are always manifold on Dhanteras, he added.

The sweets shops are also having a brisk business, though this year the demand for khoya sweets is much less due the reports of supply of adulterated khoya.
