Becoming a Pilot Just Got Easier: Government Takes Major Decision
The government has decided to conduct the RTR (Restricted Radio Telephone Operator’s) examination through the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation).
This exam will be conducted under the Indian Aircraft Act.
Earlier, the responsibility for this exam lay with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu shared this update on X (formerly Twitter).
He stated that this move is a step towards modernizing the civil aviation sector.
The minister described this as a major step towards a single-window certification system for pilots.
This will remove several hurdles in the process of becoming a pilot.
According to the DoT, the RTR exam is a crucial technical test.
It is mandatory for those operating radio communication equipment in aviation services.
This includes pilots, ATCs (Air Traffic Controllers), and radio operators.
