Dynamite News honoured chess prodigy Divya Deshmukh with the Young India Country Award 2025 for bringing international glory to India through her exceptional achievements in the sport.
At just 19 years old, Divya made the country proud by becoming a chess grandmaster, following her remarkable victory at the World Cup held in Batumi, Georgia, on 29 July 2025.
Due to her participation in an ongoing tournament in Greece, Divya couldn’t attend the ceremony in person. However, she expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Dynamite News and the jury through a special video message.
Hailing from Nagpur, Divya began her chess journey at the age of five. With parents who are both doctors, it was her elder sister’s interest in sports that sparked her early enthusiasm for the game.
Over the years, Divya’s chess journey has been nothing short of inspiring — from being the Under-7 National Champion (2012) to the Under-10 World Champion (2014), and later the Under-12 World Youth Champion (2017).
The 10th anniversary celebrations of Dynamite News were marked by the recognition of three outstanding young achievers from across the country, including Divya, for their excellence and contributions in their respective fields.
The prestigious ceremony was held at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi, commemorating a decade of impactful journalism by Dynamite News.
The event was graced by several prominent personalities, including Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, 50th Chief Justice of India Dr DY Chandrachud, Justice Rajesh Bindal, Press Council Chairperson Ranjana Desai, and a large number of key decision-makers from across society.
