BMW F 450 GS India Launch 2026
New Delhi: BMW Motorrad India has officially launched the all-new F 450 GS adventure motorcycle in the country. Developed in Germany and set for local production in India, the bike expands BMW’s GS lineup for the mid-capacity segment. Deliveries are planned from June 2026 through BMW dealerships across India.
At its core, the BMW F 450 GS is powered by a 420-cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder engine. It produces 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. The engine is tuned for smooth performance and reduced vibrations, making it suitable for both highway cruising and off-road riding. It also has a top speed of around 165 km/h.
A key mechanical highlight is the 135-degree crankshaft offset, which helps improve refinement and gives the engine a distinctive exhaust character. This setup is designed to offer better stability during long-distance touring.
Power is sent to the rear wheel through a six-speed gearbox with an X-ring chain drive. BMW has added its Shift Assistant Pro system, allowing clutchless gear changes for smoother acceleration.
Another major highlight is the Easy Ride Clutch (ERC), which reduces the need for manual clutch control at low speeds and helps prevent stalling. Together, these systems aim to make the riding experience easier in the traffic as well as off-road conditions.
The motorcycle is built on a newly developed tubular steel frame with forged elements for strength and weight balance. It uses upside-down telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock with progressive damping.
This suspension setup is tuned to handle mixed riding conditions, offering stability on highways and control on rough terrain. Adjustable preload and rebound settings further improve ride customization.
The F 450 GS is equipped with a 310 mm front disc with Brembo four-piston calipers and a 240 mm rear disc. It comes with ABS Pro for cornering safety, ensuring controlled braking even in lean angles.
Additional safety systems include Dynamic Brake Control, which prevents unwanted throttle input during emergency braking, and Engine Drag Torque Control, which helps avoid rear-wheel slip during the sudden downshifts.
The motorcycle features a 6.5-inch TFT display with a multi-controller system for easy navigation. It offers riding modes including Rain, Road, Enduro and Enduro Pro for off-road use.
Other equipment includes heated grips, USB-C charging, adjustable levers, and a 14-litre fuel tank designed for touring convenience. The ergonomics are focused on long-distance comfort and rider control.
The design follows BMW’s signature GS styling with an X-shaped full LED headlamp. A prominent front beak, flowing tank design and slim tail section define its adventure-ready look. The overall design balances ruggedness with modern styling.
The F 450 GS is offered in three variants:
The Base variant comes in Cosmic Black, while the Exclusive adds touring-focused accessories. The GS Trophy version features a more aggressive design with rally-inspired styling, upgraded suspension and additional off-road equipment.
BMW Financial Services offers flexible EMI plans starting around ₹9,999 per month. A “3 Years of Care” package is also available, combining warranty and service coverage with financing options for easier ownership.
The BMW F 450 GS enters a competitive space currently dominated by motorcycles like the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure. However, its twin-cylinder engine and premium electronics place it in a more refined touring category.
The BMW F 450 GS is designed for riders looking for a premium mid-cap adventure motorcycle with strong touring ability, advanced electronics and BMW’s signature build quality. It aims to bridge the gap between entry-level adventure bikes and higher-capacity touring machines.
