BMW M440i Convertible Goes Official in India

New Delhi: German automaker BMW has introduced the BMW M440i Convertible in India at an ex-showroom price of ₹1.09 crore. Positioned between the standard 4 Series and the high-performance M4, the new convertible aims to strike a balance between everyday usability and sporty driving dynamics.

Sporty Design with a Functional Soft Top
The M440i Convertible follows BMW’s modern design language, highlighted by a long bonnet, low stance and the brand’s signature kidney grille. It gets sleek LED headlamps and sharp tail-lights, enhancing its sporty appeal.

A key highlight is the soft-top roof, replacing the older hard-top design. This fabric roof can be opened or closed in just 18 seconds, even while driving at speeds of up to 50 km/h. The car rides on 19-inch alloy wheels, featuring staggered tyre sizes 225/45 R19 at the front and 255/35 R19 at the rear for improved grip and handling.

Premium Cabin with Advanced Features
Inside, the M440i Convertible offers a 2+2 seating layout with a driver-centric cockpit. The cabin is equipped with a curved dual-screen setup, including a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

Key features include electrically adjustable front seats with memory function, a flat-bottom steering wheel, a Harman Kardon audio system, head-up display, wireless charging and automatic climate control. Rear seat access is enabled by folding the front seats forward, typical of two-door convertibles.

Powerful Engine and AWD Performance
Under the hood, the M440i Convertible is powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine. It produces 374hp and 500Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system.

This setup ensures strong performance along with enhanced traction and stability across different driving conditions.

Quick Acceleration and Competitive Pricing
The convertible can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, while its top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.

In terms of competition, it rivals the Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet in India, which is priced slightly higher at around ₹1.16 crore (ex-showroom).
