New Delhi: The FASTag Annual Pass for private vehicles was introduced by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in honor of Independence Day. Beginning on 15 August this pass will allow toll-free travel on a few National Highways (NH) and National Expressways (NE) for a maximum of 200 trips or up to a year whichever comes first.

How FASTag Annual Pass Purchased

Purchases of the FASTag Annual Pass can be made via the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) website or the Rajmargyatra mobile app which is accessible on iOS and Android. The following is the detailed process.

Launch the platform: Go to the NHAI website or download the Rajmargyatra app.

Enter vehicle and FASTag details: Enter the FASTag details associated with your vehicle after logging in with your mobile number. Verify your eligibility by making sure your FASTag is linked activated and installed correctly.

Pay: Use the online payment gateway to pay the INR 3000 fee.

Activation: The pass will be linked to your FASTag as soon as payment is received usually in two hours.

FASTag Annual Pass Highlights and Advantages

After being activated the pass entitles private vehicles such as cars jeeps or vans to travel on specific NH and NE toll plazas for a year or up to 200 trips without having to pay tolls each time.

Cost reductions

The average toll cost is lowered to INR 15 per trip with the INR 3000 pass which covers up to 200 toll crossings. For example 200 trips without the pass would cost INR 10000 if your average toll is INR 50 per crossing. You save INR 7000 by using the pass which only costs INR 3000. If the routes are longer or the tolls are higher the savings rise.

Limitations and Validity

Valid for 200 trips or a year from the date of activation whichever comes first. The pass automatically changes back to a standard FASTag when its validity expires. The pass needs to be reactivated in order to continue receiving benefits. Only specified NH and NE toll plazas are eligible for the pass.

According to standard FASTag regulations tolls at state highways city tolls local body plazas and parking lots are still in effect. The pass is only good for the car it is registered on and cannot be transferred. If you use it on another car it will be deactivated.

Extra Crucial Details

The pass can only be purchased through the NHAI website and Rajmargyatra app. Crossing a toll plaza counts as one trip while a round trip counts as two. Trip counting is based on points.

Users are free to continue using regular FASTag without the pass it is not required.
