New Delhi: The demand for compact SUVs is steadily increasing in the Indian automobile market. In response, the country's leading automaker, Mahindra, is preparing to introduce a new compact SUV. Last year, on Independence Day, the company unveiled the Mahindra Vision S concept, which could be part of the Scorpio family in the future. This could prove to be a game-changer in the sub-4-meter compact SUV segment.

Recently, a nearly production-ready model of this SUV has been spotted testing several times. The spy photos and render images have revealed key details about its design and potential features.

Design to be Strong and Modern

According to the render images, the Mahindra Vision S is expected to feature the company's new design. Its front end is expected to feature Mahindra's signature grille with vertical slats. Round projector LED headlamps with dual-function LED DRLs are also expected. Additionally, a large bumper, foglamp assembly, and faux skid plates will give it a rugged SUV look.

Side and Rear Profiles Also Attractive

Side profiles suggest the SUV will feature large wheel arches, heavy cladding below the doors, roof rails, and a shark-fin antenna. At the rear, the SUV is expected to feature a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, inverted L-shaped LED taillamps, and integrated reverse lamps in the bumper. Its boxy and upright design will give it a rugged SUV look, largely reminiscent of the concept model.

Modern Interior Features

Interior-wise, the production model is expected to retain many of the concept's features. It could feature a center console with physical buttons, a traditional gear lever, and prominent HVAC vents. Additionally, it could feature an analog instrument cluster with a small multi-information display (MID). Manual AC controls and fabric seat upholstery suggest this could be an entry-level or mid-level variant. It's also expected to offer premium features like a panoramic sunroof.

Engine and Performance

The Mahindra Vision S is expected to feature a 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel engine, likely borrowed from the XUV 3XO. This engine produces around 117 bhp and 300 Nm of torque. It is expected to be offered with both manual and automatic gearbox options. However, the power and torque figures of the Vision S may vary slightly.

Auto experts believe that if this SUV is launched in the Indian market, it could become a strong contender in the compact SUV segment and quickly become popular among customers.
