Mumbai: Renault has added a new turbo-petrol option to its Triber seven-seater MPV range in India. The new Renault Triber TCe 100 gets a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, delivering 100hp and 180Nm of peak torque. The new powertrain is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox and is positioned as a more powerful alternative to the existing naturally aspirated petrol version. While the turbo engine is also found in Renault models such as the Kiger and Duster, its engine management and calibration have been adapted for the Triber.
The new Renault Triber TCe 100 starts at ₹7.84 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Evolution variant. The higher-spec Emotion trim is priced at ₹8.99 lakh (ex-showroom). In comparison, the naturally aspirated petrol Triber has a starting price of ₹5.80 lakh (ex-showroom). The turbo-petrol model therefore commands a premium of more than ₹2 lakh over the entry-level naturally aspirated version.
This gives buyers the option of choosing a lower-priced Triber or spending more for the additional performance offered by the turbocharged engine.
The major change in the new Triber variant is its engine. The 1.0-litre TCe turbo-petrol motor produces 100hp and 180Nm, considerably higher than the 72hp and 96Nm available from the naturally aspirated petrol engine. Renault has made changes to the engine management system for the Triber, while power is sent to the wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The turbo variant is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 10.8 seconds, giving the seven-seater significantly stronger performance credentials than the standard petrol version.
Performance isn't the only area where the new turbo model claims an advantage. Renault states that the Triber TCe 100 can deliver a claimed 21km/l. The naturally aspirated petrol-manual version, meanwhile,has a claimed efficiency figure of 19.76km/l.
Real-world fuel economy can differ depending on traffic conditions, driving habits, road conditions, passenger load and other factors.
There are no major styling changes associated with the new turbo-petrol powertrain. The Triber continues with its familiar exterior design and existing proportions.
The most visible identifying feature is a 'Turbo' badge at the rear. The MPV continues to use Renault's RGEP architecture and retains its 2,636mm wheelbase. As a result, the new version focuses primarily on improving performance rather than introducing significant changes to the vehicle's exterior or dimensions.
The Triber remains an important model for Renault's India operations, accounting for a significant portion of the company's monthly sales. The company sold 1,536 Triber units in August 2026, while cumulative sales of the seven-seater in India have crossed the two-lakh-unit mark. With the introduction of the turbo-petrol variant, Renault is expanding the Triber's appeal to buyers who want a practical seven-seater, but also prefer stronger acceleration and higher engine output.

The key considerations for buyers will be the turbo model's higher price, additional performance and claimed fuel efficiency compared with the standard naturally aspirated Triber.
