New Delhi: The Toyota Fortuner, one of India's most popular SUVs, is entering its third generation. The company is preparing to launch this new model with cosmetic updates, advanced features, and improved engine options. According to reports, testing has already begun, and it could be launched in late 2026 or early 2027.

New Exterior Design

The new Fortuner will retain its current size, but its design is expected to see several significant changes. It could feature straighter body lines, a wider front fascia, and a flatter bonnet. Its design will be inspired by the new-generation Hilux, which is already available in the international market.

The front profile is expected to feature a larger grille, a lower-set headlight cluster, slim LED DRLs, and a new bumper design. The rear is expected to feature an updated bumper with thinner, wraparound taillamps.

Premium Features Will Be Available in Interior

While official details regarding the interior have not yet been revealed, it is expected to include several premium and high-tech features. The new Fortuner could feature a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster.

Additionally, features like wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, a sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats could also be available, making it even more premium.

Engine and Performance

Regarding the engine, the existing 2.7-liter petrol and 2.8-liter diesel engine options are expected to continue in the 2026 Toyota Fortuner. The petrol engine produces 164 horsepower and 245 Nm of torque, while the diesel engine produces 201 horsepower and 420 Nm (manual) and 500 Nm (automatic) torque.

In addition, the Neo Drive variant could also be offered with a 2.8-liter turbocharged diesel mild hybrid engine. This engine will come paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Launch and Market Competition

The new Toyota Fortuner will compete with premium SUVs like the Ford Endeavour (Everest), MG Gloster, and Skoda Kodiaq in the Indian market. With improved design, modern technology, and a powerful engine, this SUV will once again strive to dominate its segment.

The new-generation Fortuner will not only offer upgrades in terms of style and technology, but will also elevate performance and driving experience to a new level.
