The 2026 facelift of the Tata Punch EV introduces larger 30 kWh and 40 kWh battery packs, boosting the driving range up to 468 km. DC fast-charging capacity has been upgraded to 65 kW, reducing charging time significantly.

New Tata Punch EV Gets 468 km Range, Faster DC Charging Upgrade
New Delhi: Tata Motors has introduced a new version of its popular micro SUV in the Indian electric car market. The 2026 facelift model comes with several key updates, specifically addressing customer concerns regarding range and charging. While the design remains unchanged, technical upgrades make it more practical than before.
The biggest change is seen in the battery pack. The company has replaced the old 25 kWh and 35 kWh batteries with new 30 kWh and 40 kWh batteries. The range, which previously offered 265 km and 365 km, has now increased to 375 km and 468 km, respectively. This represents an increase of approximately 100 km for both variants. This improvement is considered crucial considering Indian roads and long-distance needs.
The facelift model's DC fast charging capacity has been increased from 50 kW to 65 kW. The car can now charge from 20 to 80 percent in just 26 minutes, compared to 40 to 56 minutes for the previous model. However, AC charging remains the same at 7.2 kW. This upgrade will be beneficial for customers who do not have access to home charging.
The new Punch EV facelift is priced between ₹9.69 lakh and ₹12.59 lakh (ex-showroom). Notably, with a BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) subscription, the starting price drops to ₹6.49 lakh (ex-showroom). In this model, customers pay for the battery cost per kilometer, reducing the initial purchase cost. This option could be attractive to customers looking for an electric car on a budget.
Specifications for safety and other features include six airbags, ESP, a 360-degree camera, and an electronic parking brake. New features include high beam assist and minor interface changes. If a buyer is looking to upgrade solely for the new features, they won't notice a significant difference.
Overall, this facelift focuses heavily on technical improvements, particularly in terms of range and charging, making it more practical and capable of longer distances.
