More than 10 petitions filed by opposition leaders, activists, NGOs, and lawyers have been listed before the bench, with the next hearing scheduled for July 28. The petitioners argued that the voter list revision in Bihar is being rushed haphazardly, especially given its proximity to the election date. They also highlighted that Aadhaar is not a valid proof for this process.
In response, the Election Commission of India (ECI) defended its decision, asserting that the special intensive revision falls within its constitutional authority. The ECI further stated that this exercise would later be extended to the rest of the country.
