Sanjay Gupta: New Chief Secretary Himachal Pradesh
Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government on Tuesday appointed senior IAS officer Sanjay Gupta as the new Chief Secretary of the state.
Sanjay Gupta is a 1988-batch IAS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre. He was earlier serving as Additional Chief Secretary (Town & Country Planning and Housing) and was also holding the additional charge of Chief Secretary.

According to an official notification issued by the Department of Personnel, Appointment-1 Section, the appointment has been made “with immediate effect, in the public interest” following the approval of the Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
The notification stated that Sanjay Gupta will now formally serve as the Chief Secretary to the Government of Himachal Pradesh, headquartered in Shimla.
As the Chief Secretary, Sanjay Gupta will head the state bureaucracy and play a crucial role in administrative coordination, policy implementation, and governance across departments in Himachal Pradesh.
