Tamil Nadu police announces major transfers and promotions across key positions

Chennai: The Home (SC) Department of Tamil Nadu has issued a comprehensive order of transfers and postings for senior police officers, effective immediately.

The reshuffle spans from the top echelons of the force to district-level appointments, reflecting strategic administrative adjustments across the state.

Key Transfers and Promotions:

  • G Venkataraman, IPS has been appointed as Director General of Police, Civil Supplies CID, Chennai, with the position upgraded from Additional Director General of Police.
  • K Bhavaneeswari, IPS moves from Inspector General of Headquarters to head the newly created Singappen Special Force.
  • Avinash Kumar, IPS assumes the role of Inspector General of Police, General, replacing Praveen Kumar Abhinapu, IPS, who will now serve as Inspector General of Police, North Zone.
  • A Saravana Sundar, IPS has been posted as Inspector General of Police, Crime, Chennai.
  • J Mahesh, IPS takes charge as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Vellore Range.
  • Dr P Vijaya Kumar, IPS will serve as Deputy Inspector General of Police/Joint Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, South Zone, Greater Chennai Police.

District-Level Changes:

  • Abhishek Gupta, IPS is appointed Superintendent of Police, Thoothukudi District, while S Brinda, IPS moves to The Nilgiris District.
  • I Shahnaz, IPS takes over as Superintendent of Police, Kallakurichi District, with S. Aravind, IPS now posted in Kancheepuram District.
  • Allatipalli Pavan Kumar Reddy, IPS and Dr K Karthikeyan, IPS swap roles between Tambaram and Coimbatore districts.

Promotions:

V Satish Kumar, IPS and Ravindra Kumar Gupta, IPS have been promoted to Superintendent of Police, taking charge in Thiruvarur and Pudukottai districts respectively.

The order, signed by K Manivasan, Additional Chief Secretary to Government, underscores the state government’s commitment to strengthening law enforcement across all regions.
