Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh has got a new Director General of Police (DGP) yesterday on Saturday. Senior IPS Rajiv Krishna has been appointed as the new DGP of UP. Incumbent DGP Prashant Kumar has retired, though there were speculations of him being given an extension, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
In his first reaction after his retirement, Prashant Kumar has shared a post on the social media platform X wherein he has expressed his heartfelt gratitudes to all his colleagues, friends, and fellow warriors in Khaki.
Prashant Kumar has said, "This isn't just a farewell; it's a moment to pause, to reflect, and to thank each one of you for walking alongside me in this extraordinary journey of service."
"From the very first day in uniform to this moment of parting, I have lived each day with a single purpose to serve the people, uphold justice, and stand by my force. What we do is not just a job, it is a calling. And I have been privileged to respond to that call with all of you by my side," former DGP said further.

Prashant Kumar has lauded the entire police force right from the constables to the officers for their dedication and has said that they are "the true soul of this force."
Writing about his journey Prashant Kumar has said, "In these years, we have faced tragedy, triumph, and transformation-together. We modernized policing, tackled cybercrime, responded to crises, and most importantly, restored faith. Faith of the citizen in khaki. And that, to me, is the greatest medal I carry into retirement."
It appears that the former DGP, while closing his post on X, grew emotional and wrote, "I leave this post with no regrets, only pride. I may no longer wear the stars on my shoulders, but I will always carry the spirit of the force in my heart. And as I step into a quieter chapter of life, my prayers, respect, and unwavering support will always remain with each one of you.
"Let us never forget: "The uniform is temporary. The duty is forever."
Prashant Kumar in the end of his tweet wished every of his colleague a courageous and compassionate service, "May you continue to serve with courage, compassion, and conscience."
