New Delhi: Technology giant Microsoft has given a big blow to a country. The company has decided to close its operation from India's enemy country after 25 years. This move is being seen as a negative sign for Pakistan's technical and business world.

Microsoft Presence In Pakistan

Microsoft started its operations in Pakistan in the year 2000. Although the company never had a full corporate office there, Microsoft still made deep inroads into education, government institutions, and entrepreneurial sectors.

In the field of education, Microsoft had partnered with institutions like Higher Education Commission (HEC) Punjab Group of Colleges (PGC). Students and teachers were provided digital skills and remote learning through Microsoft Teams and other digital platforms. Even in the government sector, Microsoft provided technological solutions to more than 200 higher education institutions, started online training centers and digital learning courses.

Reason Behind Microsoft Decision

Former Microsoft country manager Jawad Rehman, who was associated with the company from 2000 to 2007, said, "This decision is completely business-oriented. The current environment of Pakistan is not suitable for multinational companies." He believes that political instability, declining economy, lack of definite business policies, uncertain environment for foreign investors, all these reasons have forced companies to distance themselves from Pakistan.

Former President Arif Alvi's concern

Former President of Pakistan Arif Alvi has also expressed concern over this decision of Microsoft.

He said: "Political turmoil, frequent government changes, deteriorating law and order, currency instability and unnecessary complexities in business are all conditions that are forcing global companies to leave Pakistan.

Microsoft's clarification

According to a report by theregister.com, Microsoft has clarified that it is changing its operating model in Pakistan. However, "this will not affect the company's services or customer agreements." This means that Microsoft's products and online services will remain available in Pakistan, but the company's local working style and way of operating will change.
