New Delhi: Banks across several Indian states are closed today in observance of Guru Nanak Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism. The festival, also known as Gurpurab or Prakash Utsav, is one of the most significant occasions in Sikhism, celebrating the life and teachings of the first Sikh Guru.

According to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) holiday schedule, banking operations are affected in several states due to these combined religious and cultural observances.
