Mumbai: BSE shares saw a strong surge on Friday. They fluctuated between the red and green zones in early trading, but as news emerged that there would be no change in the weekly options expiry, the stock began to rise sharply.

Active buying by investors pushed BSE shares up more than 5% from their previous closing price. At the end of the day, they closed at Rs 2,486.50 on the NSE, while intraday they rose to Rs 2,505.00, a 5.03% gain. The stock had fallen slightly to Rs 2,355.00 in early trading.

Why Did BSE Decide Not To Make Any Changes?

According to sources, there will be no change in the weekly options expiry unless there are any unusual signs in trading activity. SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) will review derivatives data between July and September this year.

In addition, SEBI is considering several measures to balance retail investor participation in the futures and options (F&O) segment, including removing disincentives on long-term derivatives.

On August 21, SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey stated at FICCI's annual capital markets conference that there is a need to extend the term of equity derivatives. A consultation paper will be issued soon.

BSE Share Movement

BSE entered the NSE on February 3, 2017. Under the IPO of Rs 1,243.43 crore, shares were issued to investors at a price of ₹806.

The stock's performance over the past year has been as follows:

March 11, 2025: Rs 1,227.33 (year's lowest level)

June 10, 2025: Rs 3,030.00 (year's highest level)

Thus, in just three months, BSE stocks have increased investor capital by nearly two and a half times.

The rally in BSE stocks following clarity on weekly options expiry has boosted investor confidence. It is currently in a strong position, and investors are closely monitoring its future trends.
