CNG users in Delhi-NCR have received another setback as Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has increased the price of Compressed Natural Gas by ₹3.89 per kg. The revised rates came into effect from 6 AM on August 29, 2026.
The price hike is expected to impact thousands of CNG vehicle owners, including private car users, auto-rickshaw drivers, taxi operators and commercial transporters who depend on the fuel for daily operations.
After the latest revision, CNG prices have increased across major cities in the National Capital Region.
The new rates are:
Noida and Ghaziabad have recorded the highest prices among major NCR cities, with CNG rates now close to the ₹100 per kg mark.
IGL attributed the latest price revision to a rise in international Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) prices. The company said a significant share of the gas used for CNG supply comes from imported LNG, making domestic prices sensitive to global energy market changes.
The increase in global LNG prices has been linked to supply disruptions and rising demand in international markets.
The latest hike is likely to increase the running cost of CNG-powered vehicles. Commercial drivers, including taxi and auto operators, may face additional financial pressure due to higher fuel expenses.
Since CNG is widely used for public transport and goods movement across Delhi-NCR, the price rise could also influence transportation costs and passenger fares in the coming days.
This is not the first CNG price revision this year. Earlier increases had already pushed up fuel costs, with IGL citing global energy market conditions as a major reason behind repeated price adjustments.
With international gas prices remaining elevated, consumers may continue to feel pressure from rising fuel expenses.
