New Delhi: The Indian stock markets will remain closed on Thursday, October 2, on account of ‘Dussehra’ and ‘Gandhi Jayanti’. Both NSE and BSE will remain shut and there will be no trading in any segment, including equity, derivatives, or securities lending and borrowing (SLB).

After eight consecutive days of decline, the stock market returned to a rally on Wednesday. Following the RBI's policy announcement, Indian stock markets traded strongly on October 1, with the Nifty closing around 24,850.

Sensex rose 715.69 points, or 0.89 percent, to close at 80,983.31, and the Nifty rose 225.20 points, or 0.92 percent.

For your information, the stock market will be closed on October 2 on account of Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra. Both the BSE and NSE will be closed. This year, Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra fall on the same day, so there is only one holiday. If these two days fell on different days, the stock market would be closed on both days, as both days have been declared holidays.

The stock market will reopen on Friday, October 3. There will be no trading on Saturday and Sunday. Trading will resume on Monday.

Knowing these dates helps traders and investors manage their portfolios effectively and avoid last-minute rushes. It is to be noted that on October 21 (Diwali Lakshmi Pujan), the stock market will have Muhurat trading. It will begin with a block deal session from 1:15 pm to 1:30 pm, followed by a pre-open session from 1:30 pm to 1:45 pm.

The special Muhurat trading session will run from 1:45 pm to 2:45 pm, after which the trade modification window will remain open until 3:15 pm.
