New Delhi: IndiGo on Monday said one of its international flights had to return to its departure airport after sudden airspace restrictions were imposed due to the evolving situation in West Asia.

According to an IndiGo spokesperson, flight 6E 033, which was operating from Delhi to Manchester, was forced to return shortly after departure because of last-minute restrictions in the region’s airspace.

The airline added that due to the changing situation in and around the Middle East, several flights may be required to take longer routes or face diversions.

“We are closely working with the relevant authorities to explore the possibility of resuming the journey,” the spokesperson said.

IndiGo also emphasised that the safety and security of passengers, crew and aircraft remain its top priority, adding that it continues to monitor the situation and will take decisions accordingly.
