Microsoft's Largest Investment in Asia to Date
New Delhi: Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella made a historic announcement for India during his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He revealed that Microsoft will invest $17.5 billion (over ₹1.5 lakh crore) in India to develop artificial intelligence (AI). This investment is considered the largest made by Microsoft in Asia to date.
The main focus of this investment will be on strengthening AI infrastructure, developing data centers, and enhancing AI skills in the country to help India become an "AI-First Nation."
After his meeting with Satya Nadella, PM Modi said that the whole world is optimistic about India in the context of AI. He stated that India's youth have the ability to rapidly adapt to changing technology, and this investment by a global technology giant like Microsoft will further enhance the country's capabilities.
He also added that India is becoming a hub of innovation, and this investment will connect Indian youth with new technologies and new opportunities.
This is the second meeting between PM Modi and Satya Nadella in 2025. In their previous interaction, Nadella had also expressed his desire to strengthen the partnership with India in the AI sector.
