Mumbai: Equity markets ended the day in the red on Thursday, with the Sensex falling 559 points to 83,675 and the Nifty closing 147 points lower at 25,807, slipping below the 25,850 level.
Around 30 Nifty stocks ended in the negative, with Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and Wipro among the top decliners.
Investor concerns over artificial intelligence (AI) disrupting the IT sector weighed heavily on IT stocks throughout the day. The Nifty IT index fell more than 5.5%, extending losses. Notably, TCS’ market capitalization dropped below ₹10 lakh crore for the first time since December 2020, reflecting mounting investor caution in the sector.
