New Delhi: On Thursday, February 27, the Indian stock market's key indices, the Sensex and Nifty 50, traded with gains. Strong buying in IT stocks was the main reason for this rally. Positive news in the technology sector led investors to turn to IT companies, which supported the market.

However, weakness in some banking giants limited the market's gains. Major stocks like ICICI Bank and Axis Bank declined, somewhat limiting the indices' gains.

Support from Foreign Cues

Positive signals from Asian markets also influenced the Indian market. Continued strength in technology stocks in the US led to a rise in the US market. Following this, Asian markets also saw a rally.

Japan's Nikkei 225 index reached a new record high on Thursday. This was the third consecutive session in which it closed at record highs. The broader Topix index also recorded a strong surge. According to market experts, investor confidence has strengthened due to certain economic and political factors in Japan.

Previous Session Performance

On Wednesday, the Indian market witnessed some profit booking after an initial rise but finally closed with a slight gain. The Sensex closed with a marginal gain of 10 points, while the Nifty 50 also recorded a slight gain. This indicates that the market is currently maintaining a cautious but positive stance.

Future Prospects

Experts believe that cues from global markets and continued strength in technology stocks could support the market in the near future. However, if weakness persists in banking and other heavyweight stocks, the market's upside could be limited.

Overall, investors appear to be looking for opportunities in select sectors amid a mix of domestic and global cues.
