Lucknow: Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, improvements in law and order and electricity supply are helping create a more favourable environment for businesses in Uttar Pradesh. Better power availability, from rural areas to cities, is allowing shops, markets and commercial establishments to operate more smoothly. At the same time, the state government’s zero-tolerance policy towards crime has strengthened security for traders and helped create a safer atmosphere in commercial areas.
Markets remaining brightly lit and active late into the night reflect the changing pattern of commercial activity across the state. The government has identified public safety, crime control and reliable electricity supply as key priorities to support economic activity.
The Yogi government has stepped up action against criminals and organised crime through strict police measures, the use of the Gangsters Act, property attachment and surveillance of illegal activities. The stated objective is to provide a secure environment for ordinary citizens, business owners and traders.
Regular police patrolling and stronger security arrangements in markets are intended to maintain law and order and allow commercial activities to continue without disruption. A safer business environment is also an important factor in building confidence among traders and encouraging economic activity.
Reliable electricity is another key element of Uttar Pradesh’s business environment. Under the prescribed schedule, power supply is provided for 24 hours at district headquarters, 21 hours and 30 minutes at tehsil headquarters, and 18 hours in rural areas.
According to departmental claims, several areas receive electricity for longer than the stipulated duration. The department has also issued instructions for 24-hour power supply across districts, tehsils and rural areas. Consistent electricity availability helps shops, small industries, markets and other commercial establishments maintain their operations.
Uttar Pradesh has witnessed a steady rise in electricity demand over the years. Available data show that peak demand stood at 12,327 megawatts in 2014 before increasing to 16,110 megawatts in 2017.
The demand has continued to rise, with the state meeting a record peak requirement of 32,673 megawatts on June 24, 2026, during the Yogi government’s tenure. Meeting this growing requirement remains a major responsibility for the government and the electricity department.
An adequate and reliable power supply can support manufacturing, services, small businesses and retail markets, enabling commercial establishments to function more efficiently.
Law and order, dependable electricity, roads and other basic infrastructure are essential for attracting investment and expanding businesses. The Uttar Pradesh government is focusing on crime control and improvements in power supply to strengthen the state’s business-friendly environment.
Secure markets and reliable electricity can help traders operate with greater confidence while supporting the functioning of shops, commercial establishments and small industries. Together, these measures are intended to encourage economic activity and strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s appeal as a destination for business and investment.
