Begusarai: A woman in Bihar’s Begusarai has alleged that she was raped and brutally assaulted inside a hotel after two men threatened to circulate an AI-generated obscene video of her.
According to her complaint, the woman had gone out to collect dues linked to a self-help group when one of the accused, identified as Vikram Kumar, allegedly approached her in the Lohiya Nagar area. He allegedly took her on his motorcycle towards Har-Har Mahadev Chowk, where another accused, Rohit Kumar, was waiting.
The two men allegedly took the woman to a hotel room, where they threatened her with a sharp weapon and assaulted her before allegedly sexually assaulting her. She has alleged that the ordeal continued for several hours on Sunday.
A video purportedly showing the alleged assault inside a hotel located on NH 31 in the town area has surfaced on social media. According to The Times of India, the footage shows a youth allegedly pulling the woman’s hair and hitting her with slippers.
The woman reportedly managed to escape by locking herself inside the hotel bathroom. She then used her mobile phone to alert her family. Her relatives reached the hotel and rescued her, while the accused allegedly fled before they could be caught.
In her complaint, the woman further alleged that the two men had earlier used artificial intelligence to create a fake nude video of her and threatened to circulate it.
She alleged that the accused demanded money from her in exchange for not sharing the video. They also allegedly pressured her to enter into a physical relationship with them.
The alleged incident took place at a hotel falling under the jurisdiction of Nagar police station. Questions have also been raised about the hotel’s security arrangements, as the woman alleged that the assault continued for hours without intervention from hotel staff or security personnel.
Police have registered an FIR based on the woman’s complaint and launched an investigation into the allegations. Both Vikram Kumar and Rohit Kumar have been named as accused in the case.
The allegations, including rape, assault, threats and the alleged use of an AI-generated video for blackmail, are being investigated by the police.
