Bengaluru: In a horrifying turn of events, a 40-year-old cab company manager allegedly strangled his two young daughters to death inside a five-star hotel near Kempegowda International Airport before attempting to end his own life, Bengaluru police reported on Monday evening.
The deceased children have been identified as Shaik Zehara, aged 5, and Shaik Zoya, aged 10. The suspect, S.G. Imran, a resident of Bilal Nagar near Nagawara Main Road, was discovered in critical condition inside the hotel room's bathroom with self-inflicted injuries and was immediately rushed to Manipal Hospital by hotel security staff. Authorities confirmed that Imran is now out of danger and receiving medical treatment under police custody.
According to senior police officials, Imran checked into the luxury hotel along with his two daughters on Sunday evening around 4:30 PM. The family was scheduled to check out by noon on Monday.
The tragedy came to light later in the afternoon when hotel staff noticed the room remained occupied past the deadline. Around 4:30 PM, after hearing commotion from inside the room and receiving no response to repeated knocks, the staff unlocked the door using a master key.
Inside, they found the two young girls lying motionless on the bed. Imran was discovered lying on the bathroom floor with a slit throat and a knife nearby.
