BSF, NCB Seize ₹50 Lakh Heroin in Jammu, Arrest One
Srinagar: Acting on precise intelligence, the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) carried out a successful joint operation in the Miran Sahib area of Jammu district, resulting in the arrest of a drug trafficker and the seizure of heroin valued at around ₹50 lakh.
Officials confirmed that the operation was launched on Thursday after actionable input was shared by the BSF Jammu unit. During the raid, the joint team apprehended one suspected smuggler and recovered a significant quantity of heroin from his possession.
“This joint effort of BSF Jammu and NCB Jammu, based on specific intelligence received on 22 August 2025, led to the capture of a narco smuggler and recovery of heroin worth ₹50 lakh in Miran Sahib,” a BSF spokesperson said.
The crackdown comes close on the heels of another major success achieved a day earlier, when security forces disrupted a high-profile trafficking racket in the Northeast. In that operation, narcotics worth more than ₹75 crore were seized and eight individuals were taken into custody.
The August 21 operation, carried out on the Aizawl–Champhai National Highway in Mizoram, involved close coordination between BSF, the NCB’s Aizawl unit, and the state Excise and Narcotics Department. Four vehicles were intercepted, leading to the recovery of 50 kg of methamphetamine tablets — nearly 5 lakh in number — along with heroin concealed in soap cases.
Security agencies said these back-to-back successes underline the effective cooperation between different enforcement wings and demonstrate their firm resolve to dismantle cross-border and inter-state drug networks.
According to BSF, these operations are part of an intensified drive to protect youth from falling victim to narcotics and to choke the supply chain of international drug cartels exploiting vulnerable corridors like Jammu and the Mizoram–Myanmar route.
