New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Deputy Director General from the Airworthiness Directorate of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in connection with a bribery case involving ₹2.5 lakh. A representative of a private company has also been taken into custody.
The arrests were made after the agency registered a case on April 18, 2026, based on allegations of corruption linked to regulatory approvals.

According to officials, the accused public servant allegedly demanded undue financial advantage from private individuals in exchange for clearing applications and granting necessary permissions pending with the aviation regulator.

The CBI conducted a successful operation during which the entire alleged bribe amount of ₹2.5 lakh was recovered. The arrests were made as part of this operation, confirming the exchange of money linked to the case.
Officials stated that the action was based on credible inputs and evidence gathered during preliminary verification.

Following the arrests, the agency carried out searches at four locations in Delhi linked to the accused individuals. During these raids, authorities recovered cash amounting to ₹37 lakh, along with gold and silver coins.
Several digital devices were also seized, which are expected to play a key role in further investigation. The CBI has confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and more details are likely to emerge as the agency examines the seized materials and financial transactions.
