CBI arrests key accused in NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case

Pune: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested another key accused in connection with the NEET-UG 2026 Physics paper leak. Manisha Sanjay Havaldar, currently employed at Seth Hiralal Saraf Prashala in Pune, Maharashtra, was involved in the examination process as an expert appointed by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and had complete access to the Physics question papers.

Leaked Questions Shared with Co-Accused

During April 2026, Havaldar allegedly shared some of the Physics questions with co-accused Ms. Manisha Mandhare, who was previously arrested on May 16, 2026. The leaked questions were found to match the NEET-UG 2026 Physics paper sets.

Nationwide Searches and Seizures

In addition to the arrest, CBI has conducted searches at multiple locations across the country, seizing laptops, mobile phones, bank statements, and other incriminating documents. Detailed forensic analysis of these items is currently underway.

Case Registered Following Government Complaint

The case was registered on May 12, 2026, following a written complaint by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, regarding the alleged leak of NEET-UG 2026 question papers. Since then, special investigation teams have been formed, conducting nationwide searches and interrogations.

11 Accused Arrested Across India

To date, 11 accused have been apprehended from Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram, Nasik, Pune, Latur, and Ahliyanagar. Investigations have revealed the involvement of middlemen who facilitated access to leaked questions through special coaching classes, where students paid lakhs of rupees.
