New Delhi: In the Sushant Singh Rajput case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has acquitted Rhea Chakraborty of all charges in its closure report. The report states that Rhea did not illegally confine Sushant, threaten him, or incite him to suicide. However, Sushant's family disagrees with this report, calling it incomplete and ineffective.

Sushant's death and the investigation

Sushant Singh Rajput, a well-known figure in both TV and Bollywood, was found hanging in his flat on June 14, 2020. The investigation into the case took several turns and became mired in considerable controversy. In March 2025, the CBI filed two closure reports—one against Rhea and her family, and the other against Sushant's sisters, filed by Rhea.

Five key points from the report

Rhea and Showik left the flat on June 8th

The CBI investigation found that Rhea and her brother Showik did not visit Sushant's flat after June 8th. During this time, Sushant had no contact with Rhea or any of his family members, except for a WhatsApp message from Showik on June 10th.

Sushant's sister Meetu was with him

The report also stated that Sushant's sister Meetu was at his flat from June 8th to June 12th. Sushant's manager, Shriti Modi, also did not come at that time due to an injury.

Rhea took items gifted to her

When Rhea and Showik left the flat on June 8th, Rhea took her Apple laptop and Apple Watch. There was no evidence of anything else being taken without Sushant's knowledge.

Sushant considered Rhea a part of the family

The CBI report stated that Sushant himself considered Rhea a part of the family. Rhea was also involved in many of his decisions. Sushant's finances were managed by his chartered accountant and lawyer, not Rhea.

Allegations of Threats Only Hearsay

The family alleged that Rhea threatened Sushant with public disclosure of his medical reports if he did not comply. However, no concrete evidence was found, and this allegation was only hearsay.

The CBI clarified that no one instigated Sushant's suicide. It also stated that no one illegally restrained or pressured him. The Patna court will now hear this report on December 20, 2025.
