CBI leads coordinated deportation of organised crime suspects to Malaysia
New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), acting as the National Central Bureau (NCB) for INTERPOL in India, has successfully coordinated the deportation of three INTERPOL Red Notice subjects from India to Malaysia, officials said on Tuesday.
The deportation was carried out on January 27, 2026, in close coordination with NCB-Kuala Lumpur and other Indian authorities.
The deported individuals- Sridharan Subramaniam, Pratifkumar Selvaraj, and Navindren Raj Cumarason are wanted by Malaysian law enforcement agencies in connection with organised criminal activities. According to authorities, the cases involve offences committed with common intention, aimed at obtaining material benefits, power, or influence through serious criminal acts.

Officials said the three Red Notice subjects had arrived in India from the United Kingdom but were denied entry by immigration authorities at Mumbai International Airport. Following the denial of entry, the Malaysian authorities initiated formal procedures to secure their return.
NCB-Kuala Lumpur subsequently approached NCB-New Delhi, seeking assistance in facilitating the deportation of the wanted individuals to Malaysia for further legal action.
Acting on the request, the CBI coordinated with relevant Indian agencies through established INTERPOL channels to ensure compliance with international cooperation mechanisms. An escort team from the Royal Malaysia Police arrived in Mumbai on January 25, 2026, to take custody of the individuals.
With logistical and procedural support from NCB-New Delhi and other concerned Indian authorities, the Malaysian escort team escorted the three individuals back to Malaysia in a coordinated and smooth operation, officials said.
The CBI said the successful deportation reflects strong bilateral cooperation between India and Malaysia in the field of law enforcement. It also highlights the effectiveness of INTERPOL’s global framework in addressing transnational and organised crime.

INTERPOL Red Notices play a crucial role in international police cooperation by enabling member countries to locate and secure the return of fugitives wanted for serious crimes. While Red Notices are not arrest warrants, they serve as alerts to law enforcement agencies worldwide, facilitating lawful action in accordance with national laws.
Officials noted that such coordinated operations reinforce global efforts to ensure that international borders do not become safe havens for offenders and strengthen collective action against cross-border criminal networks.
