Chhattisgarh: Two vehicles collide in Saragaon; 13 killed, 10 injured

Raipur: As many as at least 13 people were killed and 10 others injured in a head-on collision between two vehicles near Saragaon, around 26km from Chhattisgarh capital Raipur, police sources said on Monday.

The accident occurred near Bangoli village when a Mazda vehicle and a trailer collided head-on, police said, adding the deceased included four children and nine women.

Around 50 On Board

Sources said the occupants of one of the vehicles were returning to their village Chataud in Arang, a temple town near Mahasamund city, after attending a religious event in a village. The vehicle was carrying around 50 people when it collided with a high-speed trailer near Bangoli village.

So far, 13 people who lost their lives in the accident have been identified.

Road Accident In UP

Last week on Thursday at least two persons were killed, and three others were injured when an SUV overturned after colliding with a transformer in Line Bazar area here in Jaunpur district.

Police Version

Police sources said that the incident took place around 11 pm on Wednesday night near Matapur railway crossing when one of the front wheels of the SUV came off, due to which it went out of control and collided with a transformer and overturned. "While two persons died on the spot, three others were seriously injured," they said.

Deceased Identified

Police sources said that the deceased have been identified as Sachin Kumar (25), a resident of Khojanpur village, and Nanhku (35), a resident of Harjupur village. "Anumaan (23), Chhotu (26) and Chhotu Maurya were seriously injured in the incident and are undergoing treatment in the district hospital," they said.

Another Incident

Few weeks ago, at least six people were killed when a car collided with a bike in Madanpur police station area in Shahjahanpur district on Monday night.

According to sources four youths were riding on a bike on way to attend a wedding ceremony, while it collided with a Eco car. All the four bike riders died while two people who were in the car died and one other got injured.

The four bikers who lost their life in the accident have been indentified as Akash, Abhishek, Dinesh and Ravi, residents of Nazarpur of Tilhar police station area.

According to reports the accident happened near Barkheda Jaipal petrol pump in Madanpur police station area when the high speed bike collided with the car.

Police reached the spot and sent the bodies for postmortem. The injured has been admitted to the hospital.
