Srinagar: Security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified action against suspected terror recruitment networks allegedly operating through online platforms. The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Saturday carried out coordinated search operations at multiple locations across the Kashmir Valley as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged online radicalisation, glorification of terrorism and attempts to influence vulnerable individuals to join terrorist organisations.
The intelligence wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted simultaneous searches at five locations spread across four districts, including Baramulla, Anantnag, Shopian and Bandipora. The operation was carried out in connection with FIR No. 03/2023 registered at Police Station CIK Srinagar under provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Officials said the searches were conducted after obtaining warrants from the competent court as part of the ongoing legal investigation. The raids followed intelligence inputs regarding the alleged misuse of digital platforms for spreading extremist content, promoting terrorist ideology and creating a recruitment network aimed at attracting young and impressionable individuals.
The investigation is focused on analysing the suspected digital ecosystem allegedly being used for online propaganda, radicalisation activities and communication between individuals linked to terror networks. Investigators are examining digital footprints, online interactions, social media activity and other electronic records to identify possible links and gather evidence.

During the search operations, CIK teams recovered and seized electronic devices, digital storage media and other material suspected to be connected with the case. Officials said the seizure process was conducted in accordance with legal procedures and in the presence of independent witnesses to ensure transparency and maintain the evidentiary chain.
The recovered electronic material will now undergo detailed forensic examination. Cyber experts and investigators will analyse stored data, communication records, online activity and other digital evidence to determine its relevance and establish possible connections related to the alleged offences.
The FIR has been registered under Sections 505 and 153-A of the Indian Penal Code along with Sections 13 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The legal provisions deal with offences related to statements causing public disorder, promoting enmity between groups, unlawful activities and alleged involvement in activities associated with terrorist organisations.
Security agencies have increasingly shifted focus towards digital platforms as part of counter-terror operations, with investigations targeting online propaganda networks, encrypted communication channels and cyber-based recruitment mechanisms allegedly used for spreading extremist narratives.
Officials said the latest searches are part of the continuing investigation into the 2023 case and further action will be taken based on the findings of forensic analysis and additional evidence collected during the probe.
Authorities have not yet disclosed details about the exact premises searched, identities of individuals under investigation, specific recoveries or whether any arrests have been made during the operation.
