Dehradun: A man was held for allegedly raping a minor girl repeatedly and forcing her to undergo an abortion, police said on Tuesday.
The girl was four-month pregnant when the abortion was carried out.
The police have registered a case and arrested the accused after the girl's family admitted her to Doon Hospital.
A police spokesperson said the hospital informed the police about the minor girl's admission in a serious condition and the forced abortion.
The police took immediate cognizance of the matter and investigated the case.
After confirming the allegations, the accused, Kaif, son of Shahzad, a resident of Brahm Puri, Patel Nagar, was arrested.
A case has been registered against him.
Last month on 31 May, a man was held guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 35,000 by a local court for rape and murder of a seven-year-old girl in Kaushambi district in Uttar Pradesh, prosecution sources said here.
Prosecution sources said that a man filed a report at Kokhraj police station on April 30, 2018 that a man killed his 14-year-old niece by hitting her with a brick.

"In this case, the police filed a report against Sita Sharan under the Indian Penal Code and the Pocso Act, and after investigation, presented the charge sheet in the court," they said.
The hearing of the case began in the court of Special Judge POCSO Act.
"After hearing the arguments of both the parties and examining the evidence available in the file, the court found the accused Sita Sharan guilty of rape and murder of the minor after which Judge Ashok Kumar Srivastava sentenced the accused to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 35,000," they said.
Eight people including four minors have been arrested for raping a 13-year-old girl for several months in Gyalshing district of Sikkim. Police has exposed the incident of rape and took action on the basis of a complaint lodged by the Child Welfare Committee on Friday.
The girl's school had informed the Child Welfare Committee about her condition. Police said that the student always looked sick and weak in the class. She told the name of a woman from her area in the counseling session who used to call her regularly to help in household chores.
