CBI trap leads to arrest of Delhi govt officials in bribery case
New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two public servants and two private individuals in connection with a bribery case involving the Revenue Department in Delhi. The arrests came after the accused allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from a complainant.
According to the CBI, the arrested public servants include a Sub-Registrar and a Reader from the Sub-Registrar office, Kashmere Gate, Delhi. They allegedly colluded with two private individuals to demand a bribe from the complainant in exchange for processing a sale deed/registry.

Authorities stated that the accused threatened the complainant, warning that if the bribe was not paid, the documents or sale deed would be objected to, marked with a red seal, and forwarded to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), thereby delaying or invalidating the process.
The case was registered on January 7, 2026, under the charges of criminal conspiracy and bribery. On the same day, the CBI conducted a trap operation, during which one of the private persons was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe of Rs. 10,000 from the complainant. Investigations revealed that the bribe collection was carried out in conspiracy with the Sub-Registrar, Reader, and another private individual.

Following the trap, the CBI arrested all four accused persons. The agency confirmed that further investigation is ongoing to uncover additional details about the network and to identify any other individuals involved in the scheme.
