Delhi: A heart-wrenching accident has taken place in Azad Market area of North Delhi. Late night, a building collapsed near Azad Market. One person has died after being buried under the rubble. As soon as the information about the accident was received, police and fire brigade teams reached the spot. At present, police, fire brigade and NDRF teams are engaged in relief and rescue work.
According to the information, there were suitcase and tarpaulin shops on the ground floor below the building. Metro construction work was going on nearby. The building suddenly collapsed at around 2 o'clock in the night. The truck parked below the shop has also been damaged.
Delhi Police, Fire Brigade, Ambulance and NDRF teams are present at the spot. Relief and rescue operations are underway. Fire brigade personnel rescued a 46-year-old man in an injured condition from the rubble and took him to the hospital. On reaching the hospital, doctors declared him dead.
A 46-year-old man died after a three-storey building collapsed in Delhi's Azad Market in the early hours of Friday, a fire official said. The deceased has been identified as Manoj Sharma, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh. Delhi Fire Service official said that there were several shops in the building.
