New Delhi: There was a stir in Saket court premises in the national capital Delhi on Thursday afternoon, when there was a fierce fight between two groups of prisoners locked in the court lockup.

One prisoner died on the spot in this violent clash.

After the incident, there was chaos in the entire court premises and serious questions have started arising about the security system.

According to the Dynamite News correspondent, both the deceased prisoner and the attacker are said to be prisoners of Tihar Jail, who were brought to the court for appearance.

It is not yet clear why there was a fight in the lockup. Police say that the incident is being investigated and action is being taken keeping in mind all possible aspects.

Injured prisoner taken to hospital

Immediately after the incident, the police and security personnel controlled the situation and the injured prisoner was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead. Information about the identity of the deceased and his criminal record is being gathered.

Suspicion of rivalry

Suspicion of rivalry between the two groups is being raised. Despite the presence of security forces in the court lockup, the occurrence of such a violent incident is extremely worrying. After the incident, questions have been raised on the jail administration and the security system of the court.

Interrogation of deployed personnel continues

A senior Delhi Police official said that the personnel deployed in the lockup are being interrogated and the CCTV footage installed there is also being examined, so that the reason for the fight and the true picture of the incident can be revealed. Along with this, the prisoners who were present in the lockup at that time are also being interrogated.

Violence between prisoners in court premises

This is not the first time that violence has taken place between prisoners in Delhi's court premises, but a serious incident like murder has not only put the security system in the dock, but has also underlined the need to take effective steps to prevent such incidents in future. At present, the police have sent the body for post-mortem and have registered a case of murder and started further investigation. A detailed report has been sought from both the jail and court administration.
