New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested a german national for allegedly cheating a man of Rs 60 lakh on the pretext of arranging German citizenship or permanent residency for him. A Delhi court has remanded Poonam Jezler, a woman having German citizenship, to two days of police custody as investigators examine the alleged fraud and trace the money. According to the reports, Jezler was arrested at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport after a look out circular (LOC) was issued against her.
According to the reports, Jezler allegedly conspired with others to persuade complainant Pranzal Kumar to transfer Rs 60 lakh into two of her bank accounts. She allegedly promised to help him secure German citizenship or permanent residency but neither was arranged and the money was not returned.

Police said Jezler also introduced Kumar to a man identified as Rajat Arora who allegedly claimed to work at the German Embassy. Investigators are examining the claims and the possible involvement of other individuals. An FIR related to the alleged fraud was registered at Vasant Kunj police station in 2025.
Seeking custody, the investigating officer told the court that police needed to trace the transferred funds, recover financial records and electronic devices and establish the roles of the alleged conspirators.
Police said they had difficulty locating Jezler because she lives in Switzerland with her Swiss-national husband. An LOC was subsequently issued and her bank account was frozen, according to the investigating officer.
The police also informed the German Embassy, the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) and the Ministry of External Affairs about her arrest.
The court observed that the transfer of Rs60 lakh into Jezler’s accounts appeared undisputed but said investigators needed to establish the purpose of the payments and her specific role in the alleged offence.
