New Delhi: A 55-year-old property dealer was allegedly murdered in Delhi’s Sangam Vihar in a case that took a shocking turn during police investigation. What initially appeared to be a robbery incident later turned into a suspected planned conspiracy, according to Delhi Police.
The victim, identified as Munna Lal, was found injured in the Ratiya Marg area of Sangam Vihar during the early hours of August 10. Police received a PCR call around 5 am, following which a team reached the spot and rushed him to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where doctors declared him dead.
During the initial investigation, the victim’s wife, Manju alias Nazia, allegedly claimed that burglars had entered their house and killed her husband after he confronted them.
However, police said several inconsistencies were found in her statement. Investigators noticed signs that the crime scene may have been altered, including cleaned blood marks and scattered household items that allegedly appeared staged.
CCTV footage from the area also became a key part of the investigation. Police said the footage showed a masked person entering the house at around 1:45 am and leaving approximately 3:15 am.
According to police, sustained questioning led to a breakthrough, following which the alleged involvement of Nazia, Chaman and Kishan came to light. Police alleged that Chaman, a mechanic working near the couple’s residence, was in a relationship with Nazia. Investigators claimed that the accused had planned the murder and that Chaman was allegedly promised money for carrying out the crime.
Police further alleged that sleeping pills were used to make the victim unconscious before the attack. The investigation also suggested the accused allegedly attempted to make the incident appear like a burglary.
Police have arrested Nazia, Chaman and Kishan in connection with the case. Officials said cash was recovered during the investigation and further inquiries are underway.
Authorities are continuing to examine evidence to establish the complete sequence of events and the motive behind the alleged crime.
