New Delhi: A 45-year-old woman in Karnataka’s Mysuru allegedly died by suicide at her residence after leaving behind a note accusing her workplace supervisor of mental harassment and undue pressure.
The deceased, identified as Nageshwari, was employed at a supermarket in Mysuru for several years. According to police, a note recovered from the spot contained allegations that she was repeatedly harassed by a newly appointed supervisor named Dolly.
In the note, Nageshwari allegedly claimed that she was denied weekly holidays and was pressured to take responsibility for mistakes committed by other employees.
She further alleged that she was removed from her job after being absent for two to three days due to health issues. The note reportedly stated that the workplace treatment caused her severe mental distress, forcing her to take the extreme step.
According to reports, Nageshwari’s husband Ashok found her lying unconscious on the floor of their house on Friday. He was reportedly away when she allegedly consumed a poisonous substance.
After she failed to respond to repeated phone calls, Ashok rushed home and took her to a nearby hospital. However, doctors declared her brought dead.
Nageshwari’s mother Rathnamma alleged that her daughter had been facing mental pressure at her workplace for several days.
She claimed that her daughter had informed the family about the harassment and had mentioned the supervisor’s name before her death. The family has demanded justice and strict action against those found responsible.
Mysuru Police have started investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and are examining the allegations mentioned in the note.
