Ahmedabad: In a shocking incident a five members of a family committed suicide in their rented house in Bavla here in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The incident has sent shock waves in whole city, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
All the five deceased have been identified as Vipul Kanji Vaghela (34), his wife Sonal (26), two daughters (11 and 5 years) and 8-year-old son.
A Police official said that all of them committed suicide by consuming liquid poison. As soon as we received the information, the police reached the spot and took the bodies into custody. The bodies have been sent for postmortem.
It is being told that the family was originally from Dholka and had recently shifted to a rented house in this area.
Forensic experts and police team reached the spot and seized poison residues, food items, documents and mobile phones from the house. Now the teams are searching the place thoroughly to collect any other evidence if found.

However no suicide note has been found so far. The police is trying to connect the links of the incident through technical investigation and call detail records.
The shocking part of this suicide incident is that three minor children are in the dead. They include two daughters aged 11 and 5 years and an 8-year-old son. What is more surprising is that neighbours say that the family was calm and no major trouble was ever mentioned.
Why did the family took such a drastic step, is not yet clear. The police is trying to find out whether this matter is related to financial constraints, family dispute or any social pressure.
The Police has started investigation by interogatting the people around including the landlord and the neighbours. The Police is trying to find out whether any stressful situation was witnessed recently. Digital investigation of mobile phones and social media accounts and the family are also being probed.
The incidents of mass suicide point to the lack of mental health awareness in the country. It has been often found that families are unable to seek help due to social pressure, financial burden or mental stress. Therefore there is a need to create awareness among people.
