New Delhi: A 27-year-old Delhi Police constable, posted in the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit, was brutally killed by her husband after a domestic dispute, shocking colleagues and the law enforcement community. The woman, identified as Kajal, succumbed to severe head injuries on Tuesday at a private hospital in Ghaziabad, days after the alleged assault.

Horrific Assault by Husband

Kajal was allegedly attacked with a metal dumbbell by her husband, Ankur Chaudhary (28), who reportedly also smashed her head against a door frame at their residence in Dwarka Mor, southwest Delhi. The assault followed domestic arguments, including alleged dowry-related tensions, according to senior police officers.

On the night of the incident, Ankur called Kajal’s brother, Nikhil, around 10 pm on January 22, after assaulting her. He allegedly instructed Nikhil to record the phone call while telling him he planned to kill his wife.

Murder Confession and Hospitalisation

Approximately five minutes later, Ankur called again, confessing to killing Kajal and asking Nikhil to come claim her body. By the time her brother reached Delhi, Kajal had been admitted to a nearby private hospital, where she was declared brain dead. She was later shifted to a hospital in Nehru Nagar, Ghaziabad, and passed away on January 27 at 6 am.

Background of the Victim

Originally from Ganaur, Haryana, Kajal joined the Delhi Police in 2022. She underwent commando training and was posted to the SWAT unit of the Special Cell, an elite unit of the force. Kajal had married Ankur in a love marriage in November 2023, and the couple had a one-and-a-half-year-old son. Her brother, Nikhil, serves as a constable in the office of the ACP, Parliament Street.
