Chandigarh: The Haryana Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has uncovered a suspected international narco-terrorism network while investigating a firing incident at a club in Panchkula, leading to the arrest of seven accused. According to Haryana ATS officials, the investigation resulted in the recovery of weapons, ammunition, cash counting machines, mobile phones and 529 grams of synthetic drug commonly known as ‘chitta’.
Superintendent of Police Varun Singla said the case began after a firing incident was reported at Alif Laila Club in Panchkula during the early hours of September 13, 2026. A woman was injured in the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment.
During the initial probe, police found that five people had reached the club in two vehicles. An argument reportedly broke out between them while they were inside the club, following which one accused allegedly took out a pistol from a vehicle and fired two rounds. The investigation led to the arrest of seven accused. Three suspects were caught from the spot, while others were arrested from Mohali in Punjab and Ludhiana. During the early stages of the investigation, police also recovered a cash counting machine from the accused.
As the investigation progressed, technical analysis and interrogation revealed suspected connections between the accused and an international narco-terror network, officials said. ATS alleged that foreign-based handlers, particularly those operating from the US, were providing support in the form of accommodation, vehicles and financial assistance to facilitate the movement of weapons, narcotics and drug-related funds.
Following these developments, the investigation was transferred to ATS due to the seriousness of the case.
ATS later arrested an accused allegedly acting as an intermediary in the network from Ludhiana on September 19. During police remand, officials recovered 529 grams of ‘chitta’, following which a separate case was registered regarding the narcotics seizure.
Police also conducted raids in Ludhiana and recovered a vehicle, another cash counting machine and additional evidence. Mobile phones seized from the accused are being examined as part of the technical investigation.
SP Varun Singla said investigators are now examining the complete network, including the alleged financial trail, sources of weapons and narcotics and communication channels with foreign-based handlers. ATS is also investigating claims that the network used local operatives to transport narcotics, weapons and other illegal material allegedly received through cross-border routes, including drone-based deliveries.
Officials said further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
