New Delhi: A 17-year-old girl has narrated the horrifying sequence of events after she was allegedly gang-raped at Delhi’s Aastha Kunj Park near Kalkaji Mandir. According to her statement to police, what began as a birthday outing with a friend turned into a traumatic ordeal after three men allegedly posed as policemen and threatened them.
The survivor told investigators that she had visited Kalkaji Mandir with her friend on September 21 and later entered Aastha Kunj Park. She alleged that the accused approached them, claimed to be police personnel and questioned their presence inside the park.
According to the statement, the accused allegedly separated her from her friend after intimidating them. She told police that one of the accused called out, “Asif bhai, gun nikal,” after which she allegedly saw a firearm being taken out. She further alleged that knives were also used to threaten them.
The survivor said the accused allegedly took her to a secluded area of the park and assaulted her. She later informed her friend, following which a police complaint was made.
Delhi Police have arrested three accused identified as Asif, Hemant and Mukesh in connection with the case. Police said the accused allegedly posed as policemen before the incident, and an investigation is underway.
The survivor’s detailed description of the accused, including their appearance and clothing, helped investigators trace them during the probe, according to police sources.
The incident has also raised concerns over safety arrangements at public parks, with investigators examining security-related issues at Aastha Kunj Park, including surveillance and lighting arrangements.
The case is being investigated by Delhi Police, while further legal proceedings against the accused are underway.
