Two other accused persons involved in the case are still absconding. All six arrested accused have been sent to two-day police custody as the investigation continues.
According to police officials, the main accused, Professor Yogesh Sonkesariya of Bharti Agriculture College, Durg, allegedly used an endoscopic camera to record the question paper without breaking the sealed envelope. He later transcribed the questions and shared them with students.
Police investigations revealed that the accused professor allegedly leaked not only the Entomology paper scheduled for August 20, but also the Pathology question paper scheduled for August 8. However, officials said the earlier paper did not circulate publicly at the time.
Police said Yogesh Sonkesariya, who has been working as a professor at Bharti Agriculture College since 2019, took the examination papers home on August 17 from the Agriculture College in Jora.
Investigators claim that he inserted a small endoscopic camera through a tiny opening in the envelope and recorded the question paper while keeping the seal intact. He allegedly watched the recording later, wrote down the questions, and shared them with selected students.
A student identified as Ajay allegedly forwarded the leaked content to several other students.
The AGCH-221 examination was scheduled on the morning of August 20. Around two hours before the exam, the Agriculture College in Kawardha received an email alert regarding the alleged paper leak.After receiving the information, officials were alerted and students along with representatives reported that some questions were being circulated on WhatsApp.Following verification, a case was registered on the complaint of Dr. N.R. Rangare, Senior Scientist and In-charge of the Undergraduate Examination Cell.
