New Delhi: An Indian national from Telangana was shot dead in Philadelphia, United States, while delivering a pizza late Friday night, in a shocking incident that is now under police investigation. The victim has been identified as Anshul Kuncha.
According to local reports, a pizza order was placed at a vacant property in North Philadelphia. The victim arrived at the location to deliver the order and was allegedly shot shortly after leaving the premises.

CCTV footage from the area reportedly shows him being followed by two individuals dressed in dark clothing before the attack.
Kuncha had moved to the United States to pursue higher studies and completed his Master’s in Business Analytics in 2024. He was working as a Data Validation Analyst in Pennsylvania while also taking up part-time delivery work.
He had earlier completed his BTech in Chemical Engineering from Hyderabad’s Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology in Telangana.

The Indian Consulate General in New York said it was “deeply saddened” by the incident and confirmed that it is in touch with the victim’s family, extending all possible assistance.

Authorities are also coordinating with US officials for further investigation and repatriation procedures.
The victim’s family has alleged that the attack may have been premeditated. His sister claimed that he was “trapped and killed,” urging authorities to ensure justice and expedite the return of his body to India.
Police in Philadelphia are currently reviewing surveillance footage and trying to identify the suspects. Law enforcement agencies are examining multiple leads, including CCTV evidence and witness accounts, to determine the motive behind the shooting.
