Sopore Breaking News: Abandoned House Search Leads to Recovery of AK-47, Grenades and IED

Sopore: Security forces have recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Manzseer area of Sopore. The recovery was made during a coordinated operation involving multiple security units.

Joint Operation Conducted in Manzseer Area

The operation was carried out by the Special Operations Group (SOG) Sopore in coordination with 52 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), CRPF 177 Battalion and CRPF 179 Battalion.

The area falls under the jurisdiction of Police Station Tarzoo, Sopore, where security forces launched the search operation based on operational inputs.

Weapons Recovered From Abandoned House

During the search, security personnel recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from an abandoned house in the area.

The house reportedly belonged to a Kashmiri Pandit family that had migrated from the region in 1990.

AK-47, Ammunition and IED Among Seized Items

The recovered material includes:

  • 01 AK-47 rifle
  • 03 magazines
  • 72 rounds of ammunition
  • 04 hand grenades
  • 01 IED (Improvised Explosive Device)

The recovery has raised security concerns, and agencies are examining the possible links and purpose behind the concealment of the weapons.

Investigation Underway

The recovered arms and ammunition have been taken into custody as per the established procedure.

Security agencies have initiated a detailed investigation to ascertain the source, ownership and circumstances surrounding the recovery. Further details are awaited as the probe progresses.
