Bagalkot: A 23-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband in Karnataka's Bagalkot district after he suspected her of having an extramarital relationship. Police have arrested the accused and launched a detailed investigation into the incident.

Woman Had Recently Returned to Her Marital Home

According to the preliminary investigation, the victim, Bhagyashree Jigalur, had been staying with her parents for nearly two months following repeated domestic disputes. Investigators said her husband, Praveen Jigalur, persuaded her to return home, assuring her that they would resolve their differences.

Police allege that within hours of her return, an argument broke out at their residence in Galagali village.

Police Allege Assault Before Fatal Attack

Investigators said the accused allegedly assaulted Bhagyashree with a wooden log before hanging her inside the house. Police further alleged that he recorded videos during the incident and made a video call to the victim's parents while she was in critical condition. Authorities also claim the videos were later shared with several people.

These allegations form part of the ongoing police investigation and are yet to be tested in court.

Accused Arrested, Probe Underway

Police reached the house after receiving information about the incident and took the accused into custody. Forensic evidence is being collected, and investigators are examining the circumstances that led to the alleged murder, including the couple's recent domestic disputes.

Officials said the investigation is continuing, and further legal action will depend on the findings.
